NCME TV™ is a series of professionally-produced CME video programs on important state-mandated and other topics of interest to practicing clinicians.
The service is only available through institutional subscriptions and provides convenient and secure access for staff and attending physicians of the subscribing hospital. Here’s how it works:
- Every month, a new CME-certified video is developed, released, and posted at ncmetv.com.
- Physicians associated with your hospital receive an e-mail announcement alerting them when a new program is available. Program details (title, description, learning objectives, credit designations) are included in the e-mail. NCME also provides your hospital with printable PDF posters and flyers that can be posted and distributed to your staff by your CME Manager, Director of Medical Education, or Medical Librarian.
- Physicians use a personal password to access the online program and receive CME credit for viewing it. A self-assessment quiz is included as part of the activity. The programs are available on-demand and can be accessed 24/7. Many hospitals use the programs as a centerpiece for their own monthly CME meetings.
- CME certificates will be sent upon receipt of the activity evaluation. In a second phase of the NCME TV™ service (coming soon), self-assessment quizzes and activity evaluations will be completed online and CME certificates will automatically be generated from the site.
E-mail announcement
When a new program has been released, your staff and attending physicians will receive a detailed HTML e-mail (NCMEmail™) with the following information:
- Program title and description
- Faculty presenters’ names and affiliations
- Learning objectives
- Amount of credit offered
- Suggested reading list
- Hyperlink to program
- Coming attractions

Note: NCME TV™ is happy to send program announcements directly to your physicians if you provide their e-mail addresses. Alternatively, NCME can send each program announcement only to you for forwarding to your staff and attendings.
Printable PDF poster and flyers
Quality CME programs only benefit patient outcomes when they are utilized by physicians. Toward that end, NCME provides the means to spread the word about each new release. In addition to NCMEmail™ announcements, NCME provides PDF files of full color posters and brochures with each release. (Black and white versions are also offered for departments without color printers.) You may print out as many copies as you need to alert your staff and attendings of each new program. As an enhancement to hospital-based CME, many subscribers use the NCME video as the centerpiece for their own internal CME meetings.

What kinds of topics are offered?
NCME TV™ provides a variety of contemporary topics of interest to primary care physicians, hospitalists, and other specialists. You'll find important subjects, including state-mandated CME topics, which are rarely covered by other CME providers. Occasionally, individual programs are supported by educational grants from industry.
Each month, a new program will be posted from one of the following main categories:
Masters Programs on Critical Topics in Medicine: These programs are in-depth reviews of important topics in emergency medicine, cardiology, oncology, infectious disease, gastroenterology, and other key disease states by one of the world’s master clinicians in a grand rounds–style lecture.
State-mandated CME Topics: These programs are important to licensure in many states and include topics such as HIV/AIDS management, domestic violence, pain management, risk management, and medical ethics.
Programs Covering Hospital Quality/Performance and Credentialing Issues: These programs provide information on JCAHO requirements, quality-assurance initiatives, evidence-based practice guidelines, and clinical implementation strategies to ensure “best practices” are implemented.
Late-Breaking and Hot Topics: Programs in this category include updates on rapidly evolving subjects such as Avian influenza and hospital preparedness for bioterrorism. Segments from this category may also include timely reports from major medical conferences.
How much, and what kind of CME credit is offered?
NCME is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
All NCME programs are certified for AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™ on an hour-for-hour basis. Most are designated for up to 1 Category 1 credit.
In addition, most programs are certified for Prescribed Credit by the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP) and Category 2A credit from the American Osteopathic Association (AOA).
